Students from Braybrook Secondary College and Footscray City College, in partnership with Maribyrnong City Council's Youth Services, combined earlier this year to run a project that helped raised peoples awareness around White Ribbon Day and the elimination of violence against women.
The PhotoSTOP Violence Against Women project, was run over 7 week in both schools to engage young men to think about gender stereotypes and gender equity. The outcome is an exciting exhibition of photographic images which represent the participants interpretation of these themes.
The exhibition was opened on White Ribbon Day, November 25 at Phoenix Youth Centre's Splash Gallery to a large crowd of students and supporters who were the first ones to view the exhibition, and saw the young photographers receive prizes for the best photos. Raw Elements also performed.
The exhibition is now open the public and will run for a week before moving to Braybrook Secondary College on December 3.
Check it out now at the Phoenix Youth Centre, 72 Buckley Street, Footscray (9.30- 5pm weekdays)
